STEPHEN PHILLIPS
Stephen Phillips is OFC’s Co-Director of Coaching, previously Stephen was the Director of Coaching for NOKC and the United and Padova teams.
Stephen is a native of Wales, he moved to the States in 1999 and in 2001 started the United girls soccer program at NOKC.
Stephen played soccer in the UK at various levels, he represented is country as a youth player, Swansea City AFC, Swansea City Schoolboys, UWIC College, and played semi-professionally in the League of Wales.
Stephen is an ex school teacher and he was a Staff Coach for the Football Association of Wales. Stephen completed all of the coaching licenses that were available before he moved to the USA, these included the UEFA/FAW A & B licenses, the FAW Preliminary Award, the Goalkeeper Award and the St. John’s Ambulance First Aid Award.
Stephen ran a Centre of Excellence for the Welsh FA which developed players for professional teams and the League of Wales, he also ran a Girls Centre of Development, he ran a Champion Coaching scheme, he worked as an Assistant Coach for the Regional and National Pool, he coached at a college level and also coached High School teams.
Stephen is a former Oklahoma Soccer Association Coach of the Year, he has worked as a Staff Coach for OSA and he has been a Head Coach for the ODP program for many years.
Stephen has is USSF A license and Youth License.
Stephen has coached numerous teams to State Championships every year since he started club soccer with NOKC in 2001, he has also coached many State Runner Ups and Semi-Finalists. Every year since 2001 Stephen has taken teams to the Region 3 Championships and has coached teams who have been Regional Runner Up, Semi-Finalists and Quarter Finalists.
Stephen has coached many players who have gone on to receive Scholarships and play College Soccer and he has coached players who have gone on to represent Oklahoma, Region 3 and the National team.
Stephen believes in coaching players to be technically solid, he tries to make practice fun but demanding and he enjoys being on the field more than in the office.
Stephen is looking forward to the future for Oklahoma Soccer players and is excited at the opportunities that OFC will provide.
